In order to make secondary 2, 3 and 4 students aware of energy consumption issues, 30 classes from as many secondary schools in the province will experience a workshop-conference by the end of December.
Following a short conference, the students of the chosen classes or environment committee will be invited to participate in a citizen-workshop by simulating a debate in a municipal assembly on the installation of a new energy project in their region. At the end of this visit, the students will set up an awareness campaign on the issues of energy consumption, within their school and / or their community. The best campaign selected by the program jury will be rewarded with a grant of 10,000 $ allowing them to carry out a sustainable development project in their school.
Which are the lucky schools? From Latulipe in Abitibi to Paspébiac in Gaspésie, all administrative regions are represented. We also find the full list here.
This activity was initiated as part of the second edition of the program Carbide to efficiency Earth Day Quebec, in partnership with the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation. More details can be obtained by visiting the site www.jourdelaterre.org/carbure.
