A fifteen companies were selected to provide interactive whiteboards (IWBs) to schools across the province for the next three years, following a call for tenders that ended on October 21.

“The chosen purchasing process requires school boards to sign an agreement with an organization for group purchases,” says Esther Chouinard, spokesperson for the Ministry of Education. These two organizations are the Center des services sociaux du Québec and the Center collégial des services regroupés. The latter also has a list of certified firms. For any purchase of interactive whiteboards, a school board must contact the organization with which it has signed an agreement. It is this organization which will then request a quote from certified firms. The firm having submitted the lowest bid will be selected. "

Let us recall that last February, the Premier of Quebec Jean Charest had promised the installation an interactive whiteboard in each classroom province within five years. Each teacher should also be provided with a laptop. Project estimate: 240 million $. From This year, 16.3 million $ will allow the purchase of 5,438 interactive whiteboards. The equipment will be distributed among the school boards in proportion to the number of students in general youth education.
