Jonathan Durieux is a professor of PE in France. He invites us to discover Sportofoly, a sports board game on which he has been working since March 2020 with the help of his friend and colleague, Timothée Criquillion. As the name suggests, the game is based on Monopoly. It mainly aims to fight against the sedentary lifestyle of students, from 9 years old.
For the moment, 2 online game boards are available: sports agent and Pokémon theme. In the 1er scenario, the player embodies a sports agent in search of the best team of the XXIe century. To win, he must recruit top athletes, and to convince them to "sign", he must impress them by performing exercises! In the second, the player takes on the role of a Pokémon trainer who ventures into the Wilderness.
“The game is like an improved sporting goose game, mixing sporting challenges and cultural knowledge. There is therefore a hidden educational aspect, ”he explains. There are tutorials of all the physical exercises offered, cultural information on top athletes, quizzes, etc.
The game, built using the Genially platform, is free. All you have to do is connect with your computer or tablet to the site via Google Chrome. Also, since it is European, names, places, currency could require contextualization among young people.
Curious? Discover the game with this video presentation.
