At the École au Millénaire, everything is made easy to carry out innovative projects: a greenhouse to grow year-round, a kitchen to transform its products, a general market to meet and common rooms to work collaboratively. In addition to the many possibilities offered in her community, Karine turns to social networks to enrich the learning of her students.

Cooking with classes

A project which started on a small scale and which made it possible to mobilize this year, thanks to the resources and visibility of the Networked School and the REFER, classes in Lebanon, Uzbekistan, the United States and France. Each participating class contributed to the creation of a colorful and interactive cookbook. Chef Jean Soulard even agreed to sponsor the project and answer students' questions by video.

"This project takes me elsewhere, to meet people and do things I would never have had access to" - Karine Godin-Tremblay

To the rescue of the bees

Another project initiated by Karine allowed students to reflect on the phenomenon of the disappearance of bees, to formulate hypotheses and to share them with students from other schools thanks to the Knowledge Forum as well as to meet a specialist. Science and entrepreneurship have also been integrated into this project with the creation of lip balms and ecological packaging made with beeswax.

In this interview, Karine also underlines that collaborative projects make it possible to pick up the colors of each student and to make them progress each at their own pace, while developing the qualities that we want to see in our society: collaboration, benevolence, empathy, mutual aid.

We invite you to listen to the interview to discover how Karine finds inspiration to co-build projects with her students.
