Scientific and fun activities on the virtual Archipelago of Eureka

The Eureka Festival, which was usually held in the Old Port of Montreal, is a showcase for young people (from 8 years old) to explore the fields of aerospace, video games, artificial intelligence, robotics, etc. . In 2021, the festival is being deployed for the first time in virtual format, offering nearly 60 varied experiences in the form of games, videos, podcasts and shows for young people.

Another new feature: the festival will go to several Montreal schools for free in the fall, thanks to the financial support of Ubisoft Education. On the program: 90 minutes of activities, demonstrations and shows to introduce 2nd and 3rd cycle students to the pleasures of science and technology.

Happy retirement Jacques!

Jacques Cool, director of CADRE21 since the organization was created in 2015, retired last June. Maxime Pelchat, CADRE21 digital strategist, conducted a 21-minute interview with the director who gave a portrait of the evolution of this professional development service offered to French-speaking school personnel.

The École branchée team would like to wish Jacques a happy (active) retirement! We wish you to stay in “perpetual beta”.

A must to listen to during the summer.

No student enrolled in the Franquelin school for 2021-2022

The Père-Duclos school in Franquelin, located near Baie-Comeau, will not welcome any students during the next school year. However, the Estuary School Services Center refuses to talk about a permanent closure. It is the lack of school daycare in the school that would have motivated the decision of the parents of the municipality to enroll their children in a primary school in Baie-Comeau. A public consultation session is scheduled for September 20, at 7 p.m., in the facility's gymnasium, to discuss its future. Two other schools in the area (Godbout and Baie-Trinité) are in a fragile situation, although they welcome less than fifteen young people each.

In 2020-2021, the École branchée offered more than 60 one-hour training courses in the CréaCamp Discovery formula. Much of this training is now offered via video replay. In order to help you find your way around, the team has prepared a series of thematic routes.

Here are some of the major themes on offer:

  • Use interactive questionnaires
  • Using video in class
  • Active pedagogy
  • Evaluation and feedback
  • Discover Google tools

Sign the Citizenship Charter in the digital age

The Charter of citizenship in the digital age is deployed as part of the Jeunesse QC 2030 project, supported by the Secrétariat à la jeunesse du Québec, in collaboration with the Commission de éthique en science et en technologie (CEST).

All young Quebecers are invited to sign the charter and commit to ethical behavior online.

To put on the agenda (already!)

September 9-10, 2021: Training days on digital integration in educational counseling

A tweet of Marie-Josée Harnois on Twitter informs us of the two days of training on the integration of digital technology in educational counseling in September. Little information has circulated about the event, but it is possible to register now. Registration is free.

November 5, 2021: Digital Day in Education

Another event that was announced on Twitter without further information. The Quebec Ministry of Education invites us to reserve the date of November 5 for the third edition of the Digital Education Day.

Youth recognition award in digital literacy

The Digital Literacy Youth Recognition Awards will be presented for the second time next October as part of the MTL Connecte event. Organizations that work with a youth clientele and that have carried out digital literacy projects in the education, citizenship and culture sectors can present their candidacy. The jury will determine the winners according to the originality, the quality of the production and the impact of the projects. Particular attention will be paid to projects that have demonstrated solutions to reach young people in times of pandemic. The deadline to submit an application is September 12.

In closing, take advantage of the good weather.

See you soon! Until then, don't hesitate to “tag” us (in good French…) on Twitter (@millaudrey or @riomarti) so that we can talk about your project / resource in a future review of the week! Have a great week!
