FACIL celebrates International Free Software Day at CRIM on Saturday

FACIL, for the collective appropriation of free computing (FACIL) invites the general public as well as the actors of the free community to converge at the Center de recherche informatique de Montréal (CRIM), on Saturday, September 20, 2014, to celebrate International Free Software Day (JILL). This event, which inaugurates the Quebec Free Computing Week (SQIL).

MONTREAL, Sept. 15, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ – FACIL, for the collective appropriation of free computing (FACIL) invites the general public of the Montreal region as well as actors and actresses of the free software community to converge at the Computer Research Center of Montreal (CRIM), on Saturday, September 20, 2014, to celebrate the International Day of Free Software (ILDL). This event, which inaugurates the Quebec Free Computing Week (SQIL) from September 20 to 28, is free and open to everyone, regardless of age.

On the program this year:

  1. In the morning, unveiling of the prototype of the FACIL Key, whose crowdfunding campaign will be launched the same day, as well as various presentations from members of the free software community.
  2. In the afternoon, starting at 2 p.m., a round table on open educational resources (OER) in Quebec, with experts from the teaching and research community.
  3. 5 @ 7 opening of the SQIL at Café l'Artère in the company of enthusiasts of the Club Linux Atomic.

WHEN: Saturday, September 20 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
