Are you a preschool or elementary school teacher? Take part in a research project on the professional development of teachers in French and English public elementary schools in Quebec.

As part of her thesis project, Marie-France Boulay, a master's candidate in educational psychology at the Faculty of Education at Laval University, is carrying out a vast survey aimed at documenting the professional development activities of students. teachers from Quebec. There is currently no data on the subject, which makes it difficult to plan and organize a quality training offer that meets the needs of teachers.

To participate in this study, you must:

  • Teach in a public elementary school in Quebec;
  • Have a permanent, non-permanent (eg: contract) or back-up (eg: substitute) position.

Your participation in this research consists of completing an electronic questionnaire lasting approximately 20 minutes (between November 25, 2019 and January 15, 2020).

The questionnaire has 5 sections dealing with the following topics:

  • Your professional learning practices;
  • Your professional development activities;
  • The professional development activity you spent the most time on in the past 12 months;
  • Support and obstacles to professional development activities;
  • Sociodemographic information.

By answering this questionnaire, in addition to clearly expressing your preferences and your professional development needs, you could also influence the activities offered to you.

Participants will receive a leaflet recounting the highlights of this study and a grid of characteristics promoting the effectiveness of professional development activities. In addition, a draw for 25 gift cards worth 25$ will be made at the end of the data collection period among the people who completed the questionnaire.

To participate in the survey or to find out more, it's this way.

(This project is financially supported by a grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and it is approved by the Research Ethics Committee of Laval University)
