The Canadian History Society is receiving applications until May 20 for the Governor General's History Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Do you know the best teacher of Canadian history and the social world? If so, invite them to submit their nomination (it could be you!) For the Governor General's History Award for Teaching Excellence. “Established in 1996, the Awards are presented to elementary and secondary school teachers who have inspired and motivated their students to explore Canadian history in a stimulating context. Whether they have three or thirty years of experience, the Society wishes to highlight the leadership and innovative spirit of teachers by highlighting remarkable work often carried out in the shadows. "

Interested teachers can submit a file online before May 20, 2014. You can find all the important information about the Prizes, including the application form, by visiting the site www.histoirecanada.ca/Price

Six winners will receive 2,500 $ and a trip for two to Ottawa to attend a special ceremony at Rideau Hall, where they will receive their medals from His Excellency, the Right Honorable David Johnston. The winners will also be invited to the big dinner show History in motion presented at the Canadian Museum of History. Finally, a 1000 $ scholarship will be awarded to each recipient's school.
