Next Saturday April 6 in Quebec City will be the “Girls' Code” (LCDF) day. This free awareness and initiation activity for 100 % programming is organized by 14-15 year-old students to encourage girls aged 8 to 18 to consider programming and digital professions.

During the event, girls will be able to learn about programming and digital technology, meet inspiring women, attend panels and conferences and participate in numerous competitions.

It is a major project. Indeed, the girls created the website and Facebook page, found renowned sponsors such as Desjardins, Ubisoft and Laurier Québec, prepared promotional material, found experts for five panels and planned the many booths and workshops for the day. Their goal is to reach as many young girls as possible and they want to expand their network (boys are also admitted).

Viviane Dorval, Chairman of the Board of Directors and mother of one of the organizers, explains: “Technologies have become essential in our society and girls are still under-represented in the field! It is the responsibility of all of us to participate in helping our students to go digital in the Capitale Nationale and Chaudière-Appalaches region. "

The girls presented their initiative as part of a report broadcast on Radio-Canada.

It is therefore a meeting from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on April 6 at Laurier Quebec! To find out more, visit the event page on Facebook.
