Press release - The Federation of Quebec Parents' Committees (FCPQ) is launching new tools to support parents whose children are involved in a situation of bullying.
“Despite efforts to counter them, bullying and violence in schools persist. They remain a source of great concern for parents, who do not always know how to act or where to turn when their child is the victim, the witness or the source, ”explains Kévin Roy, president of the FCPQ.
The FCPQ worked with the Parminou Theater to create video clips aimed directly at parents, with informative content and a touch of humor.
Five capsules have been developed with defined objectives:
- Identify bullying situations
- Recognize the symptoms
- Report cases of bullying
- Supporting our children
- Prevent bullying
These capsules were produced with funding from the Quebec Ministry of the Family, via the financial support program “Together against intimidation”. The five capsules are available today on the FCPQ YouTube channel.
This project is the continuation of Guide to support parents whose children are confronted with situations of violence and bullying in the school environment, produced in 2020 and available on the FCPQ website. The guide and the capsules are complementary ways to inform and equip parents and are a continuation of the Federation's actions on bullying in schools for many years.
Another project is also being developed in collaboration with the Parminou Theater, still on the theme of bullying. Both organizations will unveil it in the next school year. With this range of initiatives, the FCPQ and the Théâtre Parminou hope that parents will feel more confident in dealing with bullying situations that may arise.
