The CréaCamp allows teachers to deepen a creative subject in the company of mentors for a day. We are discussing today with the organizers.
Today we are talking to Maxime Pelchat, a high school social teacher, and Audrey Miller, Executive Director of École branchée, two of the founders of CréaCamp, a brand new professional development event for teachers.
Wanting to remake the world through education is what fueled the conversation between the founders of this first CréaCamp (with Pierre-Olivier Cloutier and Sarah Shallow-Tardif). Audrey Miller and Maxime Pelchat explain that they imagined an event allowing participants to be active. In this day, they learn and create while being guided by facilitators.
This is how the very first CréaCamp, a continuing education event for teachers, was launched on May 18, 2017, at Mont-Saint-Sacrement high school. During this day, the 65 participants chose to learn or deepen one of the following topics:
- Robotics
- Programming (code)
- Learning through play
- Remixing the arts and math with digital
Other CréaCamps to come in 2017-2018
Building on this success, the team refined the formula and offered schools the opportunity to run their own CréaCamp! The details of the formula are explained on this page: https://ecolebranchee.com/creacamp/
Already, two dates have been announced: September 30 (in partnership with RemixEd / EdCamp Montreal) and November 17 in Montreal (at Collège Beaubois). Others will follow and details regarding registrations will be communicated here as soon as they are known.
