Clair, January 22, 2017 - From January 25 to 27, the Haut-Madawaska Learning Center (CAHM) will once again put the most avant-garde educational practices in the spotlight, during the Clair2018 event.
Clair2018 is an international conference for educators interested in new trends in education. This is the ninth meeting of its kind in as many years to be orchestrated by the CAHM.
Again this year, a record number of 325 people are expected. In addition, the conferences presented there can be followed anywhere on the planet. They will be broadcast live on the Web, thanks to a partnership with the University of Moncton, Edmundston Campus (UMCE).
Like every year, the conference will welcome several renowned speakers. Thus, Clair2018 participants, on site or online, will have the chance to see and hear Margarida Romero, Maryus Bourgeois and Pierre-Yves Rochat from Switzerland.
Pack us up. But do it quickly!
For the fourth year in a row, participants will be able to experience a session of quick introductions - or Ignite. This is an oral presentation style, supported by a slide show, where speakers only have a few minutes to present their ideas. The theme chosen for the occasion is entrepreneurship.
In all, six participants will take turns playing the game. They will have to present 20 slides and each one will only be displayed for 20 seconds, top time. An international first: the NAO robot will be one of the six participants performing its own presentation.
On Friday evening, an exceptional prize will be presented to the CAHM by Idée education entrepreneuriale, a Canadian and international organization that promotes, supports and accompanies conscious entrepreneurial education in primary to university education establishments. This recognition testifies to the marked performance of the CAHM in conscious, responsible and community entrepreneurial innovation. It will allow the CAHM to join the ranks of the International Organization of Community Schools in Conscious Entrepreneurship (OIECEC).
Winning Practices Forum
About twenty educators will share their successes in the classroom, thanks to their way of seeing education differently. They will be the architects of the Winning Practices Forum, an activity highly prized by the participants of the conference, year after year.
The CAHM, a techno school!
The CAHM is renowned for its visionary teaching practices and for its judicious use of information and communication technologies (ICT). In this primary school in the Francophone North-West School District (DSFNO), which accommodates 190 students from kindergarten to eighth grade, children are introduced to robotics in particular, they feed their blogs (e-notebooks) and produce their own programs in their radio studio.
CAHM students and teachers will be happy to show Clair2018 participants the projects they are working on this year, as part of the Educational Fair. They will notably open the doors of their two Creative Labs, which consist of spaces reserved for creation and experimentation. Children there use technologies such as 3D printers, robotics and even drones.
Noteworthy: for the duration of Clair2018, students from CAHM and Carrefour de la jeunesse d'Edmundston will produce special programs that will be broadcast on Radio des Jeunes d'Acadiepédia.
