Montreal, June 28, 2019 - Offered free of charge during the 2018-2019 school year to 11 high schools in Montreal and Quebec City, the Relève numérique professional exploration program reached a grand total of 2,900 students exclusively in the classroom.
The results of the evaluation carried out with the young people are impressive: on the one hand, 92 % of the participants had fun participating in the activities and, on the other hand, 94 % of the students indicated that their participation in Digital Relève made it possible to learn more about digital professions. Through video testimonials, young people, teachers and school administrators highlight the contribution of Relève numérique.
The president of CyberCap's board of directors, Caroline De Guire, insists on the positive impact that Relève numérique has generated on young people called upon to make a choice of school orientation: “these are more than 700 young people, girls and boys. , who have expressed an interest in learning about a digital profession ”.
Very satisfied with this first provincial deployment, the Director General Christian Grégoire indicates that "this confirms the relevance and accuracy of Relève numérique, the objectives of which are to bring about the emergence of a succession in the digital sector and to promote perseverance and academic success" .
Accelerating the integration of digital technology into teachers' pedagogy and contributing to the development of digital skills, Relève numérique is directly linked to the government's digital policy.
Design, 3D, security, telecommunications and IT, these are just some of the themes offered. “With the broadcast of 275 hours of classroom activities, one of the challenges that was met was to ensure the quality and consistency of the activities,” underlines the project director, Julie Brousseau.
The 11 schools that hosted Relève numérique during the 2018-2019 school year are: in Quebec City - De la Seigneurie, De Rochebelle and Le Sommet, in Montreal - Antoine de-Saint-Exupéry, Dorval-Jean-XXIII, Évangéline , Louis-Joseph-Papineau, Monsignor Richard, Père-Marquette, Pierre-Dupuy and St-Henri.
