We met Pierre Gagnon, teacher at Saint-Gérard school of the Montreal School Board. He tells us about his dream: that of seeing a real community school appear, open 365 days, free and accessible to all.
Pierre is interested in today's school. He considers that our education system must be redesigned from A to Z. The school must be a place open to the community that maximizes every square foot and promotes intergenerational exchanges.
In this interview, Pierre emphasizes that robotics projects can become important sources of motivation for students. Regarding the integration of technologies, he specifies that the teacher does not need to master everything for the students to learn. His role is transformed into that of a coach: managing emotions, creating the conditions, providing the tools and encouraging the children to carry out the project.
We invite you to listen to the interview to discover Pierre's vision, that of a school where the whole community is invited to learn and where children run to enter rather than to leave!
"How can students take ownership of their school if they cannot access it outside of school hours?" " - Pierre Gagnon
