On Launch of Media Literacy Week, Celebrate Positive Uses of Social Media by Young Canadians

MediaSmarts and the Canadian Teachers' Federation, in collaboration with Facebook Canada, will launch the 9th Media Literacy Week on November 3 in Toronto. The launch will feature young speakers participating in amazing projects on social platforms.

TORONTO, Oct. 28, 2014 / CNW / - MediaSmarts and the Canadian Teachers' Federation, in collaboration with Facebook Canada, will launch the 9e Media Literacy Weekon November 3 at the Facebook Canada office in Toronto. The launch will feature young speakers participating in amazing projects on social platforms. Among their inspiring work, these young people promote volunteer involvement in their community, advocate for global change, disseminate positive and accessible information on sexual health and help build support networks in mental health.

Students from the Toronto area will attend the launch in person, while youth from across Canada can join in through the live broadcast.

Practical workshops for students will be led by #FeedtheDeed and Facebook Canada, Ladies Learning Code, Mozilla, the National Film Board of Canada and Twitter.
