This week, March 26 and 27, the 2015 Educational Robotics Final will be held at ToHu in Montreal. The competition will bring together during these 2 days more than 200 teams of young people under 18 who have created and programmed unique robots to meet the challenges offered by Robotics Zone01.
Under the ASTROBOTS theme, the robotic challenges have been developed in connection with space exploration and in such a way as to impress spectators. The young people will present robots that climb vertically, climb, roll or are suspended from a wire without a fulcrum, as if they were in orbit.
At the end of the competition, 6 teams will be selected to represent Canada at the international grand final of the World Robot Olympiad which will take place in Doha, Qatar, in November 2015.
For more than 8 years, Robotics Zone01 promotes the integration of robotics in the classroom and in extracurricular activities. “By leveraging LEGO Mindstorms® sets, Zone01 Robotics programs allow students and teachers to learn through an engaging and motivating project. », Explains Yannick Dupont, co-founder of Robotics Zone01.
In order to meet the growing demand for its robotics programs, Zone01 will also organize competitions in 2015 in Toronto on April 18 and in Quebec City on April 23. "It is thanks to the support of several organizations in the education sector such as the CDLS-CLS network, AQUOPS, AQEP, ETS and FEEP as well as partners such as Desjardins and Brault and Bouthillier that these events can take place, ”adds Rémy Taupier, President of Robotics Zone01.
The WORLD ROBOT OLYMPIAD (WRO) is an annual science, technology and education event that brings together 5-19 year olds from around the world. Robotics Zone01 is the national organizer for this competition which culminates in a grand international final attracting the best teams from more than 40 countries.
