Let's go for a new edition of the Expo-sciences Hydro-Québec!

Rimouski, February 6, 2018 - The Technoscience Network is launching the 2017-2018 Hydro-Québec Science Fair as thousands of young people aged 6 to 20 from across the province present or are preparing to present their project. 'Exposciences. A great adventure that begins and will continue through the different levels of competition: local, regional, Quebec, pan-Canadian and international finals.

For the occasion, the illusionist Luc Langevin, national spokesperson for Expo-sciences Hydro-Québec and Mr. Réjean Savard, environmental relations advisor at Hydro-Québec visited the staff and students of the École de l 'Estran in Rimouski. The establishment is celebrating its Scientific Week with around forty 5th and 6th year primary students who present Exposciences projects.

“I want to wish all exhibitors the best of luck! The adventure of Expo-sciences will bring you its share of memories, meetings, discoveries and enriching experiences. You are an inspiring new generation and I warmly thank your schools for encouraging you to dare science! An edition that started with a competition

Last fall, the Technoscience Network invited teachers from all schools in the province to apply to receive the illusionist Luc Langevin's visit to their school and present their students' Exposciences projects to him. Two schools won the visit: École de l'Estran in Rimouski, which also accepted to host the national launch of the season, and Polyvalente Lavigne in Lachute in the Laurentians.

Thousands of exhibitors from across the province

During the last edition of the Expo-sciences Hydro-Québec, thousands of young people aged 6 to 20 presented a project during certain stages of the scientific competition.

In total, 1,433 of them have reached one of the twelve (12) regional finals in the secondary / college section or the nine (9) regional finals in the primary section of the Expo-sciences Hydro-Québec. Among these, 174 earned their place at the Super Expo-sciences Hydro-Québec, Quebec final, which took place in April.

The adventure continues

All regional finals can be visited for free. We invite you to consult the calendar available on the website in order to know the dates of the finals closest to you.

Otherwise, it is an event not to be missed for the 40th edition of the Super Expo-sciences Hydro-Québec, Quebec final 2018 which will be held from April 19 to 22, 2018 at Espace Shawinigan in Mauricie. Access to the site is free for the whole family!

You will also find a delegation from Quebec at the Canada-wide Science Fair from May 12 to 19 at Carleton University in Ottawa. Another delegation will fly to France from May 20 to 25.

About the Technoscience Network

The Technoscience Network and its regional organizations are present throughout Quebec to promote a taste for science and technology among young Quebecers aged 4 to 20. Their programs and activities encourage the emergence of the next generation of scientists while supporting the teaching of science and technology through a concrete approach. The Technoscience Network offers the following programs in particular: Science fair, Technological challenges, Club des Débrouillards and Les Innovateurs à l'école. It also ensures the distribution of several educational kits and activities in science for primary and secondary education.
