Recruitment for a research project on digital uses and student diversity

As part of a research project, Géraldine Heilporn of the Faculty of Education at Université Laval is recruiting high school teachers. The research aims to explore what uses of digital technology support learning and engagement of diverse students in high school courses.

What uses of digital technology support student learning and diversity engagement in high school courses?

What is the objective of the research project?

The purpose of the research is to explore what uses of digital technology support students' perceived learning and engagement in high school courses, from an inclusive perspective of the variability of learners' needs and preferences.

What kind of participants are we looking for?

  • Secondary school teacher (secondary 1 to secondary 5)
  • To discuss the use of digital in high school courses to support student learning and engagement
  • To discuss the possibility of taking into account (or not) the variability of students' needs and preferences.
  • Student enrolled in high school (secondary 1 to secondary 5)
  • To discuss the use of technology in high school courses (e.g., computer or iPad activities)

What is involved in the project?

For teachers: your participation in this research project consists of a 60-minute interview on Teams. This will be recorded in video mode; all data will be confidential.

Topics will include:

a) the diversity of students in your classes,

b) the use of digital technology in your courses,

c) the support offered in these uses,

d) responses to students' needs and preferences for digital uses to support their learning and engagement in high school courses.

Benefits You will also receive a certificate of participation that will count towards your annual continuing education hours.

For students: Your participation in this research project consists of a 30 to 45 minutes discussion on Teams. This will be recorded in video mode; all data will be confidential.

Topics will include:

a) your use of technology outside of school,

b) the uses of technology in your high school courses,

c) support from the teacher and/or other students,

d) your needs in the use of technology in your courses
and the perceived sources of these needs,

e) your preferences associated with the uses of technology in high school courses.

Compensation:
An amount of 20 $ will be offered to each student participating in the research.
