Leonardo da Vinci did not paint alone

According to a recent study, the famous painter Leonardo da Vinci would have realized "The Adoration of the Magi" with collaborators. Let us take a closer look at this work of the great master.

Museum officials said on Tuesday that during the first phase of the restoration work, which is expected to be completed in 2015, the removal of dirt revealed details and colors of the painting, in addition to giving clues to the techniques used by Leonardo da Vinci. This work also confirmed that other painters had contributed to The Adoration of the Magi. "

The next activities will allow students to familiarize themselves with the works of Leonardo da Vinci at the level of his writings, his paintings and his premonitory visions.
 


Goals

At the end of the activities, the student will be able to:
- Name the inventions that Leonardo da Vinci had imagined in the 15th century;
- Explain the elements appearing on a canvas by the famous painter;
- Design an advertising poster describing an invention imagined by da Vinci;
- Name characteristics of Codex Atlanticus.
 


Suggested Activities

ACTIVITY 1: Famous paintings by Leonardo da Vinci

Check out this cuff in order to discuss the manners and customs of the great painters of the last centuries, particularly with regard to the teamwork carried out for the development of certain works that have become famous.
Ask students to name some of Leonardo's famous paintings and write their ideas on the board. If necessary, display the list of paintings by Leonardo da Vinci.
ICT TRACK:
Suggest that students do research on one of Leonardo da Vinci's many canvases and label the various elements of the canvas. They could use the site ThingLink or insert their image in Power point, now available online, and add informative text boxes over the image.

ACTIVITY 2: The famous Codex Atlanticus

Show students the first portion of this video to learn more about the ideas and premonitions of the famous inventor, Leonardo da Vinci.
Give them the listening grid following in order to record their discoveries and thus keep written records of their new learning.

ACTIVITY 3: Leonardo da Vinci's inventions

Suggest that the students make an advertising poster describing and explaining one of Leonardo Da Vinci's many inventions, or ideas for invention. There are many sites that offer detailed descriptions of its concepts, designs, or many ideas.
