Remaking the world at a table in a cafe, the idea is not new. At the Marguerite-Bourgeoys School Board, the educational and technological world is being reinvented as part of the Coffee THÉ.BI

Since February, primary and secondary school teachers are invited to participate in a specially equipped room at the school board. Round tables, notes written in colored felt on large sheets, wi-fi, interactive whiteboard, the “café” is designed to encourage discussion and the emergence of original ideas.

“We were inspired by the formula of World Cafe. The participants work around three questions on the same theme, ”explains Martine Tremblay, coordinator of pedagogical support for IT resources. For example, teachers broached the subject of interactivity. The participants were divided into three teams and each of them had to answer a question. Only the theme was known in advance. After a while, the teams changed tables (and questions!). At the end of the discussions, the best ideas were collected and a group discussion took place.

In another Café THÉ.BI, the teachers reflected on theteaching approach SCALE-UP. A third brought together school directors to discuss educational transformation. The workshops are led by Nathalie Frigon, Educational Consultant.

The aim is to pool everyone's experiences and find new ideas. "This way of doing things encourages sharing and innovation," says Ms. Tremblay.
