On the occasion of Digital Education Day, the Quebec Ministry of Education officially launched My Class, the national platform for digital educational resources. My Classroom is actually a section of the Open School site that school staff, students and parents across the province will access by authenticating. The platform will be gradually deployed within the school network.
In fact, My class is intended to be a space for research, consultation, creation, safeguarding and sharing of digital educational resources. School staff and students will be able to create new resources and organize them within their space. They can also import existing resources and add them to their personal space. This could be texts, images, audio, videos, questionnaires, assignments, etc.
A bank of resources acquired by national licenses for school staff and students is also available directly in the platform. These resources can be used in the classroom by teachers. They come from Curio.ca (Radio-Canada), Télé-Québec en classe and CAMPUS from the National Film Board of Canada (NFB).
Creation of questionnaires and resources
My class is intended to complement the tools that are already used by teachers and students. The creation module, which is both accessible to school staff and students, will make it possible to create documents to present them in a structured way or to build new activities from scratch.
For the creation of questionnaires, the traditional multiple choice or open-ended questions are obviously available. It is also possible to include mathematical equations, images to identify (labels to move, drop-down menu of choice of answers or text box), text with gaps and associations.
In the free resource editor, modules (widgets) for content creation are offered. They allow you to insert text, images or videos and add links to existing resources (videos, images, websites, etc.).
Gradual deployment
Currently, users who have access to Mozaïk-Portail de la GRICS can discover My Class. A service agreement between the Ministère, the school service center, the school board or the private educational institution must be signed beforehand. In addition, an IT manager in the organization must authorize access to My Class. Authentication is then done from the school portal or directly via open school from the My Class button.
My class will also allow parents to discover digital educational resources, save them and share them with their children on the platform.
