Teaching computer science at school, why and for what?

At a time when François Hollande announces the creation of a "great digital school", the debate on learning computer code at school is more topical than ever. Is the teaching of computer science an essential component, and with what objectives? What are the relevant tools and methods and what programming approach should be proposed? How to tackle the issue of teacher training? More generally, if the need to train scientists and engineers is at the heart of the concerns, the aim is also to give everyone some notions allowing to master data processing and better understand the functioning of the computer, to use in a relevant way the information and services it offers.

Education managers, training professionals, communities, researchers, teachers, students and industry will discuss this topic for two days. The inaugural round table of the event, in the presence of Axelle Lemaire, Secretary of State for digital, Philippe Mussi, vice-president of the Regional Council Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur delegate for digital development, and Gilles Dowek, researcher at Inria, will also be dedicated to him: "Teaching IT, educating in digital? ".

New in 2015: The Lab, the digital creativity space

The Rencontres de l'Orme stand out this year by offering a brand new space, The Lab. Bringing together several actors around a project logic and learning by doing in the fields of education, training and innovation, The Lab is a friendly space for creativity, experimentation and discussion.

This new space is structured around 3 poles which will offer a specific program:

  • FabLab : co-design and experimentation workshops, with the possibility of creating original and innovative objects;
  • LearningLab : presentation and handling of different tools, objects and innovative projects;
  • LivingLab : laboratory of ideas and meeting space, with the participation of pupils, students, researchers and industrialists.

And still on the program ...

Communicating School® | professional workshops and seminars | stands and thematic spaces (free software, digital publishing, digital cities, European projects) | IntégraTice program (digital and disability) | school publishers fair.
