Québec, March 24, 2015 - On the occasion of the Mois de la Francophonie, the Center de la francophonie des Amériques is holding a day of literary festivities, on March 25, at the Musée de la civilization de Québec, under the theme Together, French-speaking America.

A host of activities for all ages are on the program for this day: Haitian tales, slams, awards ceremony for the Americas twitterature competition, roundtable on twitterature, conference on democracy in the 21st century, digital book launches.

The day will begin with a Haitian storytelling workshop led by Joujou Turenne. The storyteller will take primary school students on a journey through her tales. In the afternoon, IVY, poet and slammer from Quebec, will present the history of slam as well as its literary approach in front of high school students.

A round table, organized in collaboration with the Institute of Comparative Twitterature, will discuss digital writing, its evolution and its application in the educational space. The round table will be followed by the virtual launch of the book Don't be afraid of the pollen in girls' eyes by Patrick St-Hilaire and Jean-Yves Fréchette, the editions of L'instant même. *

Jean-Louis Roy, diplomat, author and journalist, will close the festivities of this day by dealing with the challenges and issues of democracy in the digital age, in a conference entitled Democracy in the 21st century: legacy and / or project. Note that Jean-Louis Roy's conference has been presented since February 13 in the Americas. After New Brunswick, Haiti, Honduras, Colombia, Mexico, Mr. Roy will take stock in Quebec. The conference will be followed by the launch of his digital book Welcome to the Century of Diversity - The New Cultural Map of the World, Stanké editions. *

Prize-giving ceremony for the twitterature competition of the Americas

The Center de la francophonie des Amériques, in collaboration with the Institut de twittérature comparée, organized the first edition of the twitterature competition of the Americas, from February 1 to 28, under the theme Together, French-speaking America. Elementary and secondary students as well as adults whose mother or second language is French were invited to express their love of words, language and literature by tweeting about French-speaking America.

This first edition received a great participation as more than 500 tweets were sent by participants from 12 countries. The winners will be announced on March 25!
