It's already time to start thinking about the holidays! Many seniors will spend these times of family celebration in solitude. Desjardins caisses in the Montreal region therefore offer young people the opportunity to prepare a small gift for them.

Last year, this same group of funds collected more than 9,200 toys for underprivileged children. This year, it's the seniors' turn to be spoiled. We therefore suggest that the students (and anyone who wishes!) Write, draw or craft a Christmas card that will be given to an elder in the region.

“This project aims to recognize the contribution of our seniors to the evolution of our society and to counter their loneliness. Unfortunately, many elderly people live in isolation and are alone to live the holiday season, so conducive to family festivities, ”says one in the press release. The “CoHOHOperons” initiative in this region is carried out in partnership with the organization les Little Brothers and their volunteers.

Mailboxes will be used to collect the creations in the participating cash registers in Montreal. The harvest period runs from October 15, 2012, the start of Cooperation Week, until November 23.

For all schools outside the territory of Montreal, why not take inspiration from this good idea and organize a similar project on a smaller scale? Do not hesitate to tell us about your initiatives and we will be happy to share them! Write to us at info@ecolebranchee.com
