Communiqué (Druide Informatique) - On November 8, Druide informatique launched Antidote 8, the new edition of its large software suite for French. This eighth edition brings more than one hundred new features and improvements to Antidote's major works. The corrector detects new errors and refines its interface for more efficient correction. The dictionaries are enriched with the phonetics of 100,000 words and 600,000 forms. A new dictionary lists lexical fields of 57,000 words in two million links. A new search engine can combine twelve criteria to explore the riches of French like never before.
The Antidote 8 corrector detects lexical inconsistencies, such as key and clef, throughout an entire text. With 50,000 new semantic corrections, it doubles its ability to avoid odd numbers such as problem * insolvent and poisonous * plant. It improves its typographical correction, dealing with ligatures, apostrophes and fine spacing, and separates it from linguistics to provide a more seamless process. Finally, the global list of detections is now categorized by detection type, which facilitates bulk handling of multiple errors.
Antidote 8 introduces the treatment of phonetics in each of its major works. The dictionaries present the phonetic transcription of each word in all its forms; the new search by criteria is based on this data to carry out a real rhyme search. The corrector uses phonetics to refine its error diagnoses. And a new phonetics guide describes in 40 articles the principles of pronunciation of French and its variations.
Designed by automatic analysis of a corpus of three billion words, the new dictionary of lexical fields offers an original view of the entire lexical landscape of each word. Displayed both in an ordered list and in an interactive sphere, it allows easy browsing of the conceptual links between words and helps to broaden the register of ideas. The dictionary of phrases has been increased and merged with that of definitions for immediate access to its riches, now divided into three sections: phrases themselves, proverbs and constructions to be banned. Over 1000 new words are added, like membership, microburst and papivore, as well as 1000 phrases, 9000 synonyms, 28000 co-occurrences and 3000 etymologies. Finally, 50 new guide articles bring the total to 800 articles, which benefit from improved type search.
Antidote works on Windows, Mac and Linux; edition 8 adds compatibility to Windows 8, in 32 and 64-bit versions, as well as to Mac OS X 10.8, with a revised Agent Antidote, reinforced and now visible in the menu bar. Antidote 8 also integrates with new software such as Internet Explorer 10 and Windows Live Mail 2012, and improves its integration with MS Word on Windows and Mac. Finally, the new edition is for the first time compatible with TeX and LaTeX format documents, very popular in academia.
Antidote 8 also improves its popular technology Anti-Oops!MC, introduced with the previous edition and appreciated by users, by now correcting the titles of emails in addition to identifying forgotten attachments and correcting the body of messages before they are sent.
Antidote 8 is offered at the same price as always, which is 129.95 $. Owners of a previous edition can upgrade it from Druide from 69 $.
