Communicated - The World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE), an initiative of the Qatar Foundation, unveiled the six winners of the WISE 2021 awards. Innovative projects are recognized for their work in addressing today's most pressing educational challenges.
The Delhi Government's Happiness Program has partnered with Dream a Dream and other NGOs to create space in school curricula devoted to well-being, happiness, mindfulness, and other important socio-emotional skills. Their innovative work had a positive impact on 800,000 students in 1,024 schools, who became more involved and focused in the classroom.
Onebillion is a complete edtech solution (tablet and app) allowing all children to acquire numeracy and reading skills in their own language, regardless of the context in which they live. The app offers children adapted and personalized learning sessions. A sustainable solution, the tablet can be recharged with solar energy and is designed for use in remote and marginalized environments.
Trauma Informed Schools is a program to promote trauma-informed education in Turkish public schools. The intervention applies a multi-pronged approach targeting children and the community around them through training and workshops. Between October 2019 and September 2020, it affected 5,216 children, 406 teachers and 190 caregivers.
Aprendamos Todos a Leer is a comprehensive and innovative model for learning to read for primary school students. It provides teachers with reading materials, training and a grading system to help all students achieve normal reading levels. It has been adopted as a public policy in Colombia and Panama and has benefited 703,277 children and teachers.
Taleemabad was selected for its partnership with low-cost private schools and for providing their classes with highly localized and contextualized digital content, aligned with the national curriculum. Taleemabad is broadcast on several channels and reaches an audience of 8.5 million people in Pakistan. The platform is also accessible through the Taleemabad app, downloaded 1.5 million times.
ProFuturo Digital Education Program created by the Telefónica foundation and the “la Caixa” foundation, is a digital education program designed to be implemented in vulnerable environments, with or without connectivity. Focused on training and supporting teachers, ProFuturo helps to strengthen their teaching practices and digital skills. It has benefited more than 914,000 teachers and 19.7 million children in 40 countries.
The projects will be celebrated at the WISE summit " Generation Unmute:Reclaiming our Future through Education »From December 7 to 9, 2021 in Doha, Qatar, and online. Each winner will receive a cash prize of US $ 20,000, in addition to the publicity and networking opportunities associated with the event.
